There has been a very high level of interest in the Advance Payment program, and the Government is working to process applications as quickly as possible. For this reason, updates on the status of individual applications are not available at this time.
The Advance Payment program is intended to provide a payment to the majority of elderly former students who resided at listed residential schools. It is an advance on the Common Experience Payment which is proposed as part of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, which still requires the approval of the courts.
